Louisville, KY (June 30, 2021) – Authorities were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the Louisville area that claimed one person’s life while leaving several others injured. Just after 12 a.m., on June 28, the Louisville Metro Police Department was notified that an accident took place on Interstate 64.
Reports from authorities show that a BMW was traveling east on Interstate 64 when it was involved in a head-on collision with a Saturn Vue near Third Street. The impact of the crash caused the vehicles to come to rest in the middle of the roadway. A semi-truck subsequently crashed into the Saturn from the rear.
A 42-year-old female passenger in the Saturn, who was from Edinburgh, Indiana, was fatally injured and passed away at the scene. The driver of the Saturn was rushed to University Hospital where they underwent care for serious injuries.
Two juveniles in the back seat of the Saturn were transported to Norton Children’s Hospital for treatment. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
