Elizabethtown, KY (July 15, 2020) – An automobile accident took place early Tuesday morning that claimed one person’s life in Elizabethtown. At approximately 6:50 a.m., on July 14, the officers from the Elizabethtown Police Department responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident that involved a motorcyclist on US Highway 62.
Reports from the EPD show that a motorcycle and an SUV collided along the highway in front of the Central Hardin High School. The rider on the motorcycle, who was identified as an adult male, sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Officers responding to the scene immediately at which time they declared the victim deceased at the scene.
As a female officer from the Elizabethtown Police Department was walking near the site of the incident during the investigation, she was struck by a vehicle. The officer suffered serious injuries in the accident but is expected to recover. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
