Louisville, KY (March 4, 2021) – One person has lost their life as a result of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in Louisville. At approximately 6:30 p.m., on March 1, emergency crews were called to the site of the fatal crash on Dixie Highway.
Preliminary investigations show that a 27-year-old male was driving north on the Dixie Highway in a stolen Ford F-350 when he crossed over the center lines in the 7800 block of the roadway and crashed into a southbound vehicle head-on. The man then fled the scene of the accident without stopping to render aid.
Inside the second vehicle, a 17-year-old female was located with severe injuries. She was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Bystanders followed the male driver from the scene of the accident and held him down until the police arrived at the scene. The driver, who was found to be under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision, was subsequently charged with several crimes related to this incident. At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
