Louisville, KY (April 15, 2020) – A pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck by a car on Sunday in Louisville. Reports from the Louisville Metro Police Department show that on August 12, a 62-year-old male pedestrian was walking on Stonestreet Rd. when the accident took place.
As the pedestrian attempted to cross the road at the intersection of Stonestreet Road and Valley College Drive, he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound. The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim fled the scene, leaving the critically injured victim lying in the roadway.
A person who was driving in the area at the time of the accident unknowingly witnessed the pedestrian being struck. The witness indicated that he saw a vehicle strike an object in the roadway and then continued driving. As the witness got closer to the object, he realized that it was a person that had been hit and was lying fatally injured in the roadway. The witness immediately called the police for help.
Unfortunately, the victim suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was declared deceased at the scene.
Police are attempting to try to locate the hit and run driver responsible for this fatal pedestrian accident. The LMPD continues to investigate this accident.
