Why Are Some Highways So Dangerous?
It isn’t just a coincidence that some highways have more serious or fatal car accidents than others. According to traffic safety researchers at Car Insurance Comparison, dangerous highways often have four things in common:
- More traffic than on most highways.
- Outdated highway infrastructure, including potholes, missing guardrails, and confusing street signs.
- Frequent hazardous weather. This can include snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain, hurricanes, tornados, and high winds.
- Dangerous road features. These often involve steep inclines, sharp drop-offs, unexpected curves, and tunnels.
