Midway, KY (July 1, 2020) – An automobile accident on Monday afternoon claimed two victims’ lives in Scott County. According to reports, at approximately 3:30 p.m., on June 27, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 64.
Reports from authorities show that a collision occurred on the interstate, causing vehicles passing through the area to slow down. As one vehicle slowed near the accident, it was rear-ended by a speeding box truck.
Two occupants inside the first vehicle, who were identified as a 48-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy, were both killed instantly in the accident.
Investigations into the accident determined that the male driver of the box truck was using his cellphone and impaired while operating the vehicle. He was subsequently charged with two counts of Manslaughter in the 2nd degree.
