Springfield, KY (February 5, 2020) – A fatal multi-vehicle accident took place on the KY-55 highway in Springfield. The crash caused the death of one of the drivers involved in the wreck.
Reports from the Kentucky State Police indicate that the accident occurred approximately three miles south of Springfield on February 4th at around 12:30 pm in the afternoon. According to reports, a Chevy Trailblazer, driven by 32-year-old Marrian Yocum of Richmond, for reasons unknown, lost control of the SUV and ended up sideswiping a vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, driven by 60-year-old Mary Davies, of Perryville, that was traveling in the opposite direction. The Trailblazer then careened head-on with a Chevy Cruze.
Sadly, 32-year-old Scott Patten, a resident of Springfield, died in the accident. Patten was the driver of the Chevy Cruze. The Chevy Trailblazer’s driver sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported Springview Hospital. She was then transferred and treated at UK Medical Center. That driver’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. Davies was not injured in the accident.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Scott Patten at this difficult time.
